Sotheby’s presents OCS members with an opportunity to handle and discuss highlights from the collection of Sir Ewen and Lady Fergusson, to be offered for sale as part of their Chinese Art sale on 4th November. Assembled from auction and through close relationships with leading dealers, the collection spans the length and breadth of Chinese art and featured heavily in the Society’s 2009 exhibition entitled The World in Monochromes.
Highlights from the collection include a wide range of early ceramics— including examples of Ding ware, a ‘Ma Jun’ censer from the collection of Alfred Schoenlicht (1876-1955), a Guan-type mallow dish from the Longquan kilns, and a range of sancai offering vessels— as well as archaic bronzes, jades and a Ru-type vase of Yongzheng mark and period.
