Accessibility

We ask members with access requirements to contact in advance of your visit so we can do our best to accommodate your requirements.

The venue does not have step free access but there are two Stannah stairlifts, making the Orangery Restaurant and Burghley House state rooms accessible to wheelchair users or those with mobility issues. Guests must be able to transfer themselves to the stairlift and back again unaided. Should you require to use this facility please let us know in advance of your visit. so the Porter on duty (or stairlift trained member of the Burghley team) will be available to operate the stairlift.

Mobility scooters are not allowed in the state rooms. Our state rooms are located on the first floor and we have no means of getting scooters upstairs. However, we have a number of manual wheelchairs available for visitors to use during their visit to the House & Gardens. These are available on a first come, first served basis but it is very rare that one will not be available on arrival.

The Gardens are mostly accessible to wheelchair users but please be aware that in the Sculpture Garden, the paths are gravel and some open areas of the Gardens are very uneven without pathways.

Both our Courtyard & Garden Shops have ramp access available. The Garden Café is on the ground floor.
Disabled parking is available nearby the House & Gardens entrance points and clearly signposted as you drive through main visitor entrance on arrival.

Disabled toilet facilities are available on arrival in the Brewhouse Entrance, close to the House entrance and nearby the Gardens entrance.

Assistance dogs are welcome.
