The OCS is pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural OCS/SICS Study Exchange Programme 2025. Vivian Tong has been awarded the opportunity to travel to Jingdezhen in June 2025 to pursue her research on ‘Revisiting Images of Porcelain Production, Post-Production Logistics and Trade: Assessing their Viability through Researching Historical Archives, Archaeological Discoveries, Topography and Infrastructure of Jingdezhen’.
After studying Natural Sciences at Durham University, Vivian Tong completed her MA in Fine and Decorative Arts from Sotheby’s Institute, London, then worked as a specialist in Chinese Works of Art at Sotheby’s in London and Hong Kong from 2011 to 2022. She has since begun an academic career as a part-time lecturer at the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University.
The Oriental Ceramic Society (OCS) in London and the Society of International Ceramic Studies (SICS) launched the study exchange programme to support an international exchange of scholarship in Chinese art, particularly ceramics. The aim is to encourage young professionals and scholars to carry out research and expand our knowledge of this field.
Following the inaugural study exchange in Jingdezhen in 2025, an application process will be opened by SICS for an exchange candidate to travel to London in 2026.
