The seventeenth century was a time of political upheaval in China, marked by the fall of the Ming dynasty and the rise of the Qing. Porcelain production continued to flourish, adapting to changing patrons, tastes and markets.

In this handling session, we will examine selected pieces from the British Museum collection to explore how porcelain was made and decorated, and how its forms and designs reflected the changing world in which it was produced.
