SUMMARY:Findings and Research in the Jingdezhen Luomaqiao Kiln Site – Blue and White Porcelain Production over 700 Years
DESCRIPTION:Asian Art in London Lecture @ Christie’s London\nTea & coffee: 17:30-18:00\nLecture: 18:00-19:00\nRegistration has now closed \nThis lecture will also be live streamed on Zoom:  Register to watch on Zoom ( https://christies-auctionhouse.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_lN8UoX44S9WEBev9V_JtDA#/registration )\nThe Oriental Ceramic Society is delighted to welcome Dr. Weng Yanjun, the Director of the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum and Institute and the Jingdezhen Ceramic Archaeology Institute, to London to present a lecture as part of Asian Art in London.\nHis lecture will focus on the Luomaqiao kiln site that has been in production for around a thousand years, from the late 11th century through to the present day. The Luomaqiao kiln site is historically significant, being part of the early development of blue-and-white porcelain over some 700 years ago, beginning with the Yuan blue-and-white wares.\nDr. Weng will present the audience with first-hand, new archaeological material including vessels and the remains of the workshops that produced them. He will investigate different stages of the blue-and-white porcelain production, including the distinctive features of each period, from vessel types and manufacturing techniques to the other wares produced alongside them.\nThe lecture will close by placing the production in a wider social context, discussing the ecological evolution of Jingdezhen porcelain production, the development of the town, and its international connections. Dr. Weng Yanjun is the Principal Investigator in Ceramics at the Tsientang Institute for Advanced Study.\nRegistration for this event is required via Christie’s London, please find the RSVP link above.  \nThe lecture is generously sponsored by an OCS member in association with Christie’s London.\nImage: Yuan Blue-and-white porcelain Stratum at Luomaqiao Kiln Site\n
